Belmont Bridge Design Competition
The Belmont Bridge is being replaced. However, its re-design is at a standstill. Our neighborhoods are taking a proactive approach in improving the design possibilities for this important, potentially iconic opportunity in city infrastructure. The solution: Project Gait-Way – an unsanctioned $2,000 design competition for the Belmont Bridge to create “an iconic, pedestrian-centric, bike & auto friendly gateway bringing Charlottesville into the next era of world-class cities and communities.”?
• Open Submission: Deadline February 11, 2012.
• Public Display: February 13 – 19, 2012 at The Bridge PAI
• Judging will be comprised of public votes and a jury of local stakeholders.
• Award: 8pm February 19, 2012.
Can you help make it happen? You will be asked to vote on the best designs when they are unveiled at The Bridge PAI on February 19, 2012. And you can donate to the prize money (we’re raising it all locally). Mail checks to: Bridge Design Prize c/o The Bridge PAI, PO Box 239, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
Please make checks payable to: The Bridge PAI
‘Bridge design prize’ in the memo line. And thanks for your commitment to the community.
