Anniversary Lantern Workshops
Friends of Cville is excited to partner with local artists Miranda Elliott-Rader, Melissa Goldman, Annie Temmink, and Raging Buffalo Glass Studio to lead lantern making workshops. Join a workshop to create lantern structures to be used in the community lantern parade to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Downtown Mall on July 3rd, 2026. Workshops will be held at Live Arts and the McGuffy Art Center on the Downtown Mall. Participants will be able to choose from a variety of example designs or make their own design. All materials will be provided so just bring your creativity! Ages 13+, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult (ticket sold separately).
If the cost of the workshop is a barrier, email us at info@friendsofcville.org to ask for a scholarship.

Energy Resource Hub
This is a program through the city, county, and the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) that helps people find and take advantage of incentives for energy efficiency. Charlottesville City has created Retrofit Mini-Grants that provide rebates for certain energy efficiency measures including:
$1000 for a heat pump
$800 for a heat pump water heater
$500 for attic insulation or foundation insulation
$250 for a home energy assessment
Get started by emailing Rosina Snow at resourcehub@leap-va.org or filling out this form.

Fifeville Food Co-op
The Fifeville Food Co-op is being proposed for development on Cherry Avenue. For many of us in Belmont, this would be our closest grocery store. The co-op would support local farmers and the community with access to locally grown healthy fruits and vegetables in addition to essential staples. If you are interested in supporting the co-op by becoming a member you can learn more and join before the co-op is operational, helping make this a reality in our community.

MyCville App
If you haven’t already, we highly recommend downloading the MyCville app. Right now, the City is making a huge effort to respond to submissions quickly. In the app you can “Report A Problem” such as: potholes, pedestrian safety concerns, sidewalk blockages, parking violations, and more. Generally, the more people report problems, the more the city will focus on that issue. Past campaigns by the BCNA have resulted in effective traffic calming measures, new flashers for pedestrian crossings, and more.
